| Eligibility Criteria : |
a) Indian National in possession of Indian Passport
b) Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM)
with 60% from a recognized board or any University. Should have passed with not less
50% marks in English as subject, at either 10th or 10+2 standard. |

Age not more than 25 yrs. on date of commencement of course with a concession of
2 yrs for female candidates. |
| Medical Standard : |
(i) Medically fit as per the standards prescribed by M.S.Medical Examination Rules 2000. (ii) Eye sight 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and normal colour vision and should have passed the MMD Eye Sight Test.
(iii) No Eye Glass Permitted.
(iv) No Colour Blindness. |

After successful completion of the B. Sc. degree from Seacom Marine College (SMC) the cadet officers are required to put in one year of sea service on board a Merchant ship to become eligible to appear for the certificate of competency as Second Mate (FG) exam, conducted by The Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. The graduate cadets are entitled to certain exemptions in qualifying sea service and written exam for the certificate of competency examination.
From the rank of Trainee Nautical Officer, Cadets will progress to a 3rd Officer / 2nd Officer, Chief Officer and ultimately the Captain i.e. Master of the Vessel.
